Effective Friday, the beach at Tuscarora State Park is closed until further notice.
According to DCNR, the Beach has been closed at Tuscarora State Park in Barnesville to swimming effective Friday, August 19th, 2022 because of "harmful algae".
As a precaution, the beach will remain closed until acceptable water sample results are received.
This is the third time this summer that the beach has been closed.
DCNR has posted signs at the beach and all major access points.
Cautions should be taken when conducting activities on or near the lake. Pets should be kept out of the water and kept from drinking any water from the lake. Do not boat or paddleboard in water with scum or discoloration. Other activities at Tuscarora State Park, such as camping, picnicking, and hiking are proceeding as usual.
