Melissa M. Olanich, 67, Girardville, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday at her residence.

Born at the former Ashland Hospital she was a daughter of the late Peter and Isabelle Yenetskie Olanich. She had been employed as an LPN having last worked at the former Friendly Nursing Home, Pitman.

She loved playing bingo, gambling, gardening and most of all cooking and spending time with her grandchildren and her dogs; Mollie, Toby, Baylee and Maisey.

She was preceded in death by her sister Stephanie Novotny and her grandson Kohl Marlow.

Melissa is survived by her spouse of 21 years Charles Marquardt, her son Craig Brennan and his significant other Sarah Purcell, Girardville, her daughter Shannon wife of Shawn Butler, Frackville, her brother Peter ( Tina ) Olanich, Pottsville, two sisters; Evelyn Madden and her companion Brad Hurrell, Girardville and Susie Holiday and her companion Bill Bender, St. Clair her eight Grandchildren who she loved immensely: Blayke, Brynn, Ivy, Abby, Bradlee, Irelynn, Shane and Shawn also by nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. from the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Girardville, with Rev. Giuseppe Esposito officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Fountain Springs. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 9 a.m. until time of service

In lieu of flowers the family prefers contributions, to defray expenses, be made in care of Shannon Butler, 125 S. Third Street, Frackville, PA 17931

Thomas J. Hoban
, husband, father, brother, grandfather of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 1, 2022, at St. Luke's Miners Memorial in Coaldale, Pennsylvania. He was 68 years of age.

Born on May 31,1954 in Coaldale, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late James J., and Mary C. (Brennan) Hoban.

Surviving are; his beloved wife of 41 years Deborah A. (Sheeto) Hoban; daughters, Siobhan A. Gladhill wife of Joseph of Littlestown, Tara A. Hoban of Hometown; brothers, James P. Hoban, Patrick J. Hoban and his wife Christina Tait-Hoban; sister, Mary Ann Parra wife of Morris; grandchildren, Hannah Marie, and Madelynn Rose Gladhill. Many nieces and nephews also survive Tom.

A 1972 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School, Tom served honorably in the United States Army. Upon Tom's return home, he began his I.T. career at the former J.E. Morgan Knitting Mills in Hometown until the plants closing. Tom then worked for Extol, now Cleo industries in Pottsville until retiring. He was a member of St. John XXIII R.C.C. of Tamaqua. Tom liked to golf, was an avid reader, music enthusiast, and looked forward to family vacations at the beach. He was also an amateur radio enthusiast. Tom's call sign was KC3NPG.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 8, 2022 at 11 o'clock A.M. from St. John XXIII R.C.C. 307 Pine Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania 18252.

Friends may call in the morning at the funeral home from 9:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M.

Private interment with Military Honors will be held at Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery Annville, Pennsylvania.
