The Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville have released the details of a tractor trailer rollover that closed Interstate 81 near Frackville on Wednesday.
According to Troopers, the crash occurred around 8:45 on Interstate 81 northbound in New Castle Township in the area of mile marker 123.
Troopers say John Landon, 61, of Canton, PA was driving north when he lost control of his Freightliner Tractor Trailer hauling wooden pallets. The tractor trailer struck an embankment in the median and landed in the southbound lanes of Interstate 81. The truck and trailer straddled the median blocking both north and southbound lanes.
Landon sustained minor injuries in the crash and was transported by Shenandoah Ambulance to an area hospital.
Landon will be charged for the crash.
Interstate 81 northbound was narrowed to one lanes and southbound was closed for nearly 2 hours. By late afternoon, at least 1 lane was open in both directions.
State Police were assisted at the scene by the Good Will Fire Company, Altamont Fire Company, and Englewood Fire Company. PennDOT assisted with traffic control and Hammers Towing assisted with cleanup.
