A man sustained minor injuries after being struck by a truck on an Interstate 81 on-ramp near Mahanoy City earlier this week.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, the crash occurred around 3:45pm, on Wednesday, September 21st, 2022 on the on-ramp of Interstate 81 northbound from Route 54 in Mahanoy Township.
Troopers say Arthur Kegerreis, 71, of Pine Grove was parked on the shoulder of the on ramp while doing maintenance on his General Motors C7500 truck while Jose Miranda-Chuni, 41, of Corona, NY, in a tractor trailer was traveling up the ramp to get on the Interstate.
Miranda-Chuni reportedly overcompensated the right curve, traveled off the roadway and struck the driver side of Kegerreis's truck as well as Kegerreis himself as he was getting into his vehicle.
Despite a blown out tire, Miranda-Chuni continued northbound on Interstate 81.
The State Police at Hazleton were alerted of the incident and Miranda-Chuni was pulled over in Luzerne County. His truck was found to have damage to the right side wheels of his trailer.
Kegerreis was reported to have suffered minor injuries, was evaluated at the scene by Ryan Township EMS.
Miranda-Chuni will be cited for leaving the scene of the crash.
