William H. " Bill" DeLay, Beloved husband, adoring father, doting grandfather, brother, of Union Street in Tamaqua, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022, as a guest of St. Luke's Village in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, at 73 years of age.Born Tuesday, March 29, 1949 in Pottsville, Pennsylvania the son of the late John F. DeLay, Sr., and Isma Ruth (Mohrman) DeLay. Bill was also predeceased by; sister, Patricia Sabol; brother, John F. DeLay, Jr.
Surviving are; his wife of 48 years, Patricia A. "Patti" (Sherry) DeLay; daughter, Angela A. Xander and her husband, Chad of New Tripoli; brother, David" Smokey" DeLay and his wife, Linda of Tamaqua; sister, Ruth Lizardi and her husband, Eugene of Downingtown; grandson, Aden who affectionately called him pappy.
A 1967 Marian Catholic High School graduate, Bill served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Bill continued his father's service to the Parish of St. Jerome R.C.C. in Tamaqua serving as maintenance superintendent, and sexton of their affiliated cemeteries for over 32 years. A member of St. John XXIII R.C.C. of Tamaqua, Bill had been an active member of the East End Fire Co., and was a member of the marching unit participating in many County Fireman Conventions. An outdoor enthusiast, Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, and training his Beagles.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday October 4, 2022 at 11 o'clock from the funeral home. Friends may call on the morning of from 9:30 A.M. until time of services.
Interment with Military Honors bestowed will be in Sky View Memorial Park, Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.
