Schuylkill Haven Police are asking for the public's help in locating a suspect and a stolen vehicle after a man held her against her will.
Officers arrived on scene and observed fresh bruising to the Victim’s face, chin, and arms. It was determined that the Defendant, Cassidy James Ward, 38,of Waterloo, NY, had cut his ankle monitor and arranged to meet the Victim in Elmira, NY.
From there, Ward forced the Victim to drive to Virginia Beach, VA, and away from his outstanding charges out of New York State. Throughout the ride, Ward would threaten to shoot and stab the Victim if she left him. The Victim noted that Ward used a large Bowie style knife that he kept under the passenger side floor mat to threaten her. Upon reaching the Borough, an argument ensued, and Ward began striking the Victim about her face and body. The Victim then stopped the vehicle and attempted to run. Ward grabbed her by the hair, but the Victim ultimately worked herself free. The Victim then ran into the restaurant and had employees contact police.
Ward then fled the scene with the Victim’s vehicle, a tan 1998 Ford Taurus bearing NY registration KXA6311. It should be noted that there is a significant amount of items inside the rear passenger compartment and trunk causing the vehicle to sag.
A warrant for Wade’s arrest was signed by Judge A.J. Serina for the following charges: Felony counts of Theft of a Motor Vehicle & Receiving Stolen Property, Misdemeanor counts of Terroristic Threats, Possessing an Instrument of Crime, Unlawful Restraint, False Imprisonment, Unauthorized use of a Motor Vehicle, & Simple Assault, and a Summary count of Harassment.
Ward is described as a 5’09” 160lb native American male, with a mustache, the sides of his head shaved with dark mid length hair on top, and numerous tattoos on both arms and to the sides of his neck. Anyone encountering Wade or the above listed vehicle should immediately call 911.
