Northward Playground in St. Clair was awarded a $50,000 state grant to renovate its basketball courts and make other site improvements, according to Rep. Tim Twardzik (R-123) and Senator David G. Argall (R-29).
“I am sure this grant will revitalize and bring huge smiles to children, their parents, and grandparents,” said Rep. Twardzik. “The more we can promote fresh air and exercise to today’s youth the healthier and happier we’ll be.”
“These grants are very difficult to obtain, with many more applicants than there are dollars available,” said Senator Argall. “Congratulations to St. Clair on their efforts to improve their playground. Thanks to this grant, local kids will have a new and improved place to enjoy the outdoors.”
This grant was awarded through the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Community Conservation Partnerships Program. During the 2022-23 budget, the General Assembly worked in a strongly bipartisan manner to provide more funding for conservation and recreational improvement projects. Because of these efforts, a second round of grants will be distributed later this fall.
