Mahanoy Area won big in their home game against Marian Catholic on Friday night.
What started out as a close game finished with a big win for the Golden Bears.
After a nearly scoreless first quarter, Mahanoy Area struck first with a touchdown followed by an extra point, but Marian would score immediately on the kickoff.
Mahanoy would score again with just over 5 minutes left in the half but the Colts would score twice, once with 2 minutes left and again at the buzzer, with Marian taking the lead into halftime 18-14.
The Golden Bears would pull it together for the second half leaving the Colts scoreless for the remainder of the game.
Mahanoy would up the score to 20-18 after one drive and again to 27-18 to end the 3rd Quarter.
The Golden Bears would score once more to end the game 34-18.
Next week, Mahanoy moves on to face a 4-2 Williams Valley in Mahanoy City.
Marian Catholic moves on to Shenandoah Valley (1-5) at home next week.
