A Mount Carmel man was charged for allegedly raping a child and possession hundreds of images of child porn.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Stonington, Troopers investigated a child line referral that indicated the victim was sexually abused at the home of Robert Warren Taylor, 72, in Mount Carmel over a 2 year period.
The investigation was brought before the Northumberland County District Attorney's Office who charged Taylor with, Rape of a Child, Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse with a Child, Sexual Assault, Aggravated Indecent Assault of a Child, Indecent Assault, and Corruption of Minors.
Taylor was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge William Cole, and locked up in Northumberland County Prison on $150,000 straight cash bail.
As part of the investigation, a search warrant was executed on Taylor's home in the 200 Block of South Beech Street on August 18th, 2022.
The investigation was to search for Child Sexual Abuse Material after investigator learned of an IP Address trading illegal files.
During the execution of the warrant, several of the Taylor's devices were seized and a full forensic search was conducted.
The investigation led to the finding of hundreds of illegal files. As a result, Taylor was charged with over 300 Felony counts of Sexual Abuse of Children and criminal use of a communication facility.
For the second set of charges, Judge Cole set bail at $100,000 straight cash bail.
State Police are asking anyone that may have been a victim of Taylor to come forward and contact the Mount Carmel Borough Police or State Police at Stonington.
