A man is facing charges after he fled police in East Union Township on Sunday all while he had a 10-year-old passenger with him.
According to East Union Township Police, on Sunday, October 16th, 2022, around 8:45pm, PTML Christopher Dimmick was monitoring traffic in the 900 Block of Center Street in Sheppton when he observed a Black Acura Convertible.
PTLM Dimmick ran the registration on the vehicle which came back expired. A traffic stop was conducted and when the officer exited his patrol vehicle, the Acura drove away.
A vehicle pursuit ensued where the driver crossed the double yellow line to pass vehicles and drove at speeds in excess of 100 mph.
The suspect eventually came to a stop at 229 Green Mountain Road where the driver, Matteo Mirabile, 21, of Mount Carmel, was taken into custody.
A 10-year-old minor was found to be a passenger in the vehicle. A check of Mirabile's driver's license came back as suspended.
A check of the vehicle led to the finding of a loaded 45 caliber handgun. Mirabile did not possess a concealed carry permit.
The firearm and vehicle were seized by police.
As a result of the incident, PTLM Dimmick charged Mirabile with endangering the welfare of children, firearms not to be carried without a license, reckless driving, fleeing or eluding police, and driving with a suspended license.
Mirabile was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Andrew Serina and committed to Schuylkill County Prison on $50,000 straight cash bail.
