A fatal crash near Blue Mountain Elementary West delayed school for students Wednesday morning.
Around 5:30am, emergency personnel were called to a motor vehicle accident in the area of Route 443 and Front Street, in the area of Blue Mountain Elementary West, near Friedensburg, involving a vehicle into a retaining wall with the driver heavily trapped. A landing zone was initially called for but cancelled.
The Schuylkill County Coroner's office was also called to the scene.
Blue Mountain has announced that Elementary West students are on a two-hour delay due to the accident and all other buildings are operating on a normal schedule. Due to the accident, Middle School and High School level students living between Frieden Manor and the West building probably won't be able to get picked up.UPDATE (9:45am) - Victim Identified by State Police
