The Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven have provided an update on a roving DUI checkpoint that was completed on Friday, December 16th, 2022.
According to Station Commander Sgt. Thomas Hornung, members increased DUI patrols by conducting checkpoints to monitor for alcoholic or drug impaired drivers. The goad was to reduce the number of alcohol or drug related fatal and serious crashes and reduce the number of DUI drivers on the highway.
Sgt. Hornung reported that during the course of the patrol, a total of 34 vehicles were contacted that resulted in:
- 1 driver being arrested for DUI
- 1 passenger was apprehended with a warrant
- 1 driver was arrest for drug possession and an underage
- 1 passenger was arrested for furnishing minors
- 31 warnings issued
- 16 citations issued.
