The Pennsylvania State Police at Hazleton have released details on Saturday's evening's shooting at the Regal Cinema at the Laurel Mall.
According to Public Information Officer Trooper Anthony Petroski, Troopers were dispatched to the theatre located at 400 Laurel Mall Drive, in Hazle Township around 8:15pm, Saturday for a report of "shots being fired".
An investigation revealed that a 19-year-old male was struck by gunfire in the arcade/lobby of the theatre. The shooter then fled the area.
The victim was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital to be treated for his injuries.
Troopers said they believe the victim was specifically targeted and are calling the incident an attempted homicide.
The investigation is still ongoing, and troopers as if anyone has information on the incident, they are encouraged to call the Hazleton Barracks at (570) 459-3890.

While watching a movie, around 8:15pm, the lights in the theater began to flicker and an announcement was made for everyone to evacuate. As they walked outside, police were still arriving, and the body of a person was lying in a grassing area in the front parking lot. They said it was a very frightening experience.
