An Ashland man was charged Sunday after an incident at his home late Saturday and Early Sunday morning.
According to court documents, on Sunday morning, just after 8:30am, Ashland Police Officer Daniel Weikel was dispatched to a home in the 1700 Block of Centre Street for a welfare check.
At the home, Officer Weikel learned that around 10:30pm, Saturday, Scott George, 50, had been involved in a fight with his juvenile son, when he picked up a vacuum and tried to strike the juvenile with it. George also allegedly pulled the phone from the wall so nobody inside the home could call 911 and pulled a knife threatening to stab the juvenile.
The incident continued Sunday morning, when George grabbed the juvenile by the throat to the point he couldn't breathe.
George was taken into custody and arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer on charges of strangulation, simple assault, disorderly conduct, and harassment.
George was released to a family members house in Frackville on $10,000 unsecured bail.
Officer Weikel was assisted by Butler Township Police Chief Daniel Holderman.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 25th, 2022, before Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli
