An Ashland man is locked up in Schuylkill County Prison after an incident New Year's Day.
According to court documents, on January 1st, 2023, just after 10:00pm, the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville were dispatched to 1034 Brock Street in Ashland for a report of a domestic.
When State Police arrived at the scene, they found Henry Davies, 43, walking in the street directly outside the home.
State Police spoke with Davies' husband inside the home, who said an argument started between the men in regard to a check.
The victim told Troopers that he was upstairs inside the home during the argument and when he stood at the top of the steps, Davies was at the bottom holding an axe.
The victim said Davies yelled "I'm going to kill you motherfucker", then ran towards him holding the axe above his head and swinging it towards him several times.
The victim then locked himself in a bedroom where Davies continued to threaten to kill him and "split his head open".
A few moments later, Davies began to yell "You will burn" and "Can you smell it? I'm going to burn you down motherfucker". The victim said when he opened the bedroom door, Davies was flicking a lighter in an attempt to light a table on fire, yelling "I dumped fluid", and screaming that he dumped gas.
Inside the home, Troopers found the axe, lighter, a half bottle of charcoal fluid, and an empty bottle of lighter fluid. Troopers were also able to smell the odor of gas inside the home.
Troopers took Davies into custody and charged him with arson, aggravated assault, making terroristic threats, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and harassment.
He was arraigned before on-call Magisterial District Judge David Plachko and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison on $50,000 straight cash bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled before Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli on January 11th, 2023.
