John Edward Martofel , 53, of Frackville, died Thursday January 19, 2023 at LVHN Cedar Crest AllentownBorn in Philadelphia, October 27, 1969 , He was a son of Edward J. Martofel of Philadelphia and Carolyn Martofel of Mahanoy Plane
He worked at Mike Hawranick Fuel Services.
He of the Catholic Faith
He was preceded in death by daughter Xena Martofel in 2020.
Surviving in addition to his parents are a daughter Gabrielle Martofel Weikel and her husband Frank of Pottsville. Grandchildren Roseann and Hank. Brother Edward Martofel; Aunts, Uncles, Cousins.
Memorial Services will be held at 6:00 PM Monday January 30, 2021 from the Nice Hart Funeral Home 9 N. Lehigh Ave. Frackville, PA 17931. Friends may call from 5:30-6:00 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the funeral home to defray funeral costs. Interment will be private at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery, Frackville

Gerald J. “Shife” Griffin, 75, of Frackville, formerly of Shenandoah, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, surrounded by his family.Gerald was born in Shenandoah on November 19, 1947, to the late William Griffin and Rose (Lombard) Griffin who resided in Lost Creek.
He was a 1967 graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.
Upon graduation, he was employed by PennDot as operator until his retirement.
Gerald was a lifelong Democrat, an avid Notre Dame fan, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #618, Shenandoah, professional opinion giver, husband, father and grandfather. He will be sorely missed by those who loved him and will live on forever through the memories he created.
Preceding him in death were his parents and wife of forty-seven years, Ann M. Griffin, whom he cared for during her courageous battle with cancer until her passing in September 2022.
Gerald leaves behind his children, Charles Griffin, Kelly Preneta and Erin Griffin; and the those who brought him the most joy, his grandchildren, Zachary Griffin, Cade Preneta, Vivian Preneta, and Baby Boy Hansbury due in April; his brothers, John Griffin and William Griffin; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 10:00 am at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah with the Rev. Gregory R. Karpyn officiating. Interment will follow in Annunciation BVM Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. A visitation will be held on Saturday morning from 8:00 am until 10:00 am at the funeral home.
Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, Shenandoah is in care of the arrangements.

Born on October 21, 1951, in Pine Grove, he was the son of the late Floyd and Grace Bretzius.
He served his country in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. William R. Rush DD-714 in the early 1970's. After his service, Dale worked a majority of his career with the Federal Government working for the Veterans Administration from where he retired.
He had a passion for playing the guitar which was fueled by his love of music. He also enjoyed reading and watching horse racing, Jeopardy, and other sports. Most of all he cherished spending time with his five grandchildren.
Dale was a member of the American Legion Post 192 in Evans, GA where he was often found enjoying the company of friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Darlene Weaver, a brother Daniel Bretzius, and beloved partner, Diane Russell.
Surviving are two sons, Keith and wife Melissa Bretzius, Kerry and wife Holly Bretzius; five grandchildren, Lauren, Kyle, Hailey, Grace and Claire; and a sister Patricia and husband Rick Sauer.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc, Pine Grove with Pastor Eric Snyder officiating. There will be a visitation on Saturday, February 11, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Schuylkill Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Pine Grove.

Richard L. Smith, 73 of Orwigsburg, formerly of Palo Alto, Went Home to be with the Lord after a long-fought battle with Wegeners Granulomatosis and passed from AML on Tuesday January 24, 2023, at his Residence.
Born in Pottsville, January 4, 1950, He was a son of the late Harold and Dorothy (Hearn) Smith.
He was a graduate of Pottsville High School Class of 1968.
Richard severed 2 tours in Vietnam for the US Army and worked as a Trackman for Conrail before becoming disabled.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years Lola (Welikonich) Smith: 2 daughters Denise Grajewski and her husband Mark of Greenwood, SC; Erika Fisher and her husband Matthew of Orwigsburg; 3 brothers; Harold Smith of Palo Alto; Russell Smith of Palo Alto; Joseph Smith of Frackville; 1 sister Carol Newton of Palo Alto; 3 grandchildren Jeremy Grajewski, Christian Fisher and Zoe Fisher. Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday January 30, 2023 from Bethlehem Baptist Church, 1 N. Front St. St. Clair, PA 17970. The Rev. Joseph McDemus will be officiating. Friends may call from 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM Monday at the Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bethlehem Baptist Memorial Fund, PO Box 172, St. Clair, PA 17970. Burial with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Bruce T. Hart Funeral Home, St. Clair, is in charge of arrangements.

Loretta Ann Arruza, 85, formerly of Mary D, PA, died on Monday, January 23, 2023, in Coaldale, PA. She was the wife of the late Leocadio Arruza, Jr., to whom she had been married 64 years at the time of his death in 2021.
Born in Mary D, PA on March 16, 1936, Loretta was a daughter of the late Frances and Marcella (nee Kazacavage) Kazlosky. A 1954 graduate of Arlington High School in Poughkeepsie, NY, she was a self-taught oil painting artist. In addition to being an adept artist, Loretta enjoyed crocheting. A Catholic, she was very devout in her faith.
Loretta is survived by daughters, Deborah Nordby and her husband Frank of Cato, NY, Cynthia Arruza of Auburn, NY, and Christina Simonelli and her husband Frank of Beverly Hills, FL; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sister, Marlene Miller of Hometown, PA; a nephew; and 2 nieces.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Elsie Kowalski and a nephew, Michael.
Services will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua, PA. Call 9-10 AM Thursday at the funeral home. Burial in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA will be at 1 PM on Thursday. Donations in Loretta’s memory may be made to the Activities Fund, St. Lukes Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, 360 West Ruddle Street, Coaldale, PA 18218.

Roberta "Bobbi" Bohrman
Born August 19, 1935 Died January 23, 2023
Bobbi was born on Garfield Avenue in Schuylkill Haven, the sixth of seven children of Esther Annie (Siebert) and William Robert Reber. She had three brothers and three sisters and was named after her father Robert, although she was always known by her nickname, Bobbi. All but one of her siblings, Lee Reber, has predeceased her. Just one of her sisters, Thorne, lived in Schuylkill Haven, the other siblings relocated to various parts of the United States.
She graduated from Schuylkill Haven High School in 1953. This is where she met her husband of 69 years, James Bohrman, Sr. They lived at Bohrman's Mill their entire lives, surrounded by the extended Bohrman family where they raised a son, James Jr. and a daughter, Jayne. Bobbi wore several hats in addition to being a wife and mother. She was a seamstress, a shopkeeper, and a collector. Her love of animals, especially cats, and gardening brought her much joy. In recent years, she and her best friend spent many enjoyable hours working on jigsaw puzzles.
Bobbi will be missed by those who knew her kind and gentle spirit. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Orwigsburg, where donations can be made in her memory, or to Hillside SPCA.
She is survived by her husband, James Roy Bohrman, Sr. of Schuylkill Haven. Daughter, Jayne Ann, wife of Tobey Chadsey of Chester Springs, son, James Roy Jr., husband of Lynette Bohrman of Schuylkill Haven. Also survived by granddaughter Amber Leigh (Bohrman), wife of Steve Vignati and great grandchildren, Gemma & Aidan Vignati of New Cumberland.
A Religious Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 31st at Hamilton - Breiner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. in Orwigsburg, with Rev. Jeff Johnson officiating. Visitation at the funeral home will begin at 9:00 AM.
Interment will be at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Inc. Schuylkill Haven.
