Joseph V. Ferrari, 76, Girardville passed away on Tuesday, January 3rd at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born in Ashland, he was a son of the late Theodore and Marie Coyle Ferrari.
Joe was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Vietnam War. He was a proud member of the Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club.
He had a love for horses, motorcycles, big trucks and muscle cars. He was introduced at a young age to drag racing by his brothers who started his love for fast cars. This started him to build his own cars for racing.
He had a love for animals. His beloved pets were Terror, Bridget Ann, Tiger, Inga, Turkey and dear Callie.
Joe owned and operated his own horse farm in Beury’s Grove. This was a passion of his from a young age.
Joe owned his own Gas station and garage in Girardville, Ferrari’s Service Station.
He worked at Cleveland Brothers with his brother Ted. He was a Partsman in his twenties and then went on to be a truck driver. He was last employed prior to his retirement with Tri State Envelope, Ashland as a truck driver/jockey.
He was a big fan of WWF professional wrestling. He attended many matches at Hamburg Field House and Allentown Fair Grounds. At one point he had an extensive collection of pictures of the superstars from the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s.
One of the fondest memories his family has of Joe was when his sister, brothers and their families put in his huge pool in one weekend on his farm.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Ted Ferrari and Tom Ferrari; his sister Miriam Bradley.
Joe is survived by his fiancé Diane Martin, Girardville; his son, Joseph Ferrari; his brothers: Ron and his wife Mary Ferrari; Lou and his wife Geraldine Ferrari; Rob Ferrari; a grandson, Joseph; several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 9th at 12:30 pm from St. Vincent dePaul Church, Girardville with Rev. Guiseppe Esposito, pastor, as the celebrant. Friends are invited to his viewing at the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Girardville on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 pm and again on Monday from 10:30 am to 12 noon. Interment will follow at 2:30 pm at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Diane Martin at 101 Upper Railroad Street, Girardville, PA 17935 to help defray funeral costs.

Janet E. Scherer, age 70, of Mahanoy City, died Tuesday morning at Penn State Hershey Medical Center surrounded by loved ones.

Born at the former Locust Mountain Hospital, she is the daughter of Joan Brady of Mahanoy City and the late John G. "Jack" Brady. She was a 1970 graduate of Mahanoy Area High School and received her Associate Degree in Business Administration. from the McCann School of Business. She had been employed in that capacity by the Gilberton Coal Company, Mahanoy Area School District, Ashland Diesel and for Empire Beauty School. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Mahanoy City. She was past president of the United Methodist Women, sang in the church choir and worked tirelessly at all fund raising events. She was chairman of the Angel Tree Project that provided Christmas gifts for needy children in the Mahanoy City area. Her greatest joys were attending all of her daughters school activities, she was past president of the Elementary PTO and served with various boosters and the Mahanoy Area Alumni Association. Her favorite place in the world was Ocean City New Jersey where she spent many summers with family and friends.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 46 years Richard P. Scherer, two daughters Amy Scherer of Elizabethtown and Laurie A. Scherer of Hummelstown, a sister Joan K. Brady of Pottsville and a brother Jack Brady and his wife Theresa of Cary NC and her beloved dog Bailey.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral on Saturday morning at 11 AM from the First United Methodist Church, Fourth and Mahanoy Ave., Mahanoy City. The Rev. Bridget Wagner will officiate.
Interment will follow in the German Protestant Cemetery in Mahanoy Township. Friends may call at the church on Saturday morning beginning at 9 AM.
Contributions in her name to the church would be appreciated by the family and will be accepted at the visitation.

Born on May 1, 1949, in Rosemead, California, she was a daughter of Joseph Reed and Barbara Whitelaw of California. She attended Rosemead High School in Rosemead, California. She worked in the historic Pop’s Corner Deli in El Monte, CA. After she and her husband moved to Pennsylvania, they operated a local delicatessen shop and became proprietors throughout Schuylkill County.
Linda was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother,, aunt, sister and friend. She enjoyed traveling as much as possible around the world and on various cruises with her loved ones and closest friends. Among her favorite pastimes were visits to as many presidential libraries as possible. She enjoyed watching her son and grandchildren participate in their various sporting events; while proudly and loudly cheering them on.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Cooke, son Michael P. Ilsley, parents Joseph and Arlene Reed, Barbara and Jim Whitelaw, Corrie Alberts, Theresa Kozlusky and Sheila Reed.
In addition to her husband, Lawrence E. Lewis, Linda is survived by her brothers, Joe and Craig Reed, Larry Alberts and her sister, Renee Boughtin; grandchildren Christina Dixson, Maximos Ilsley, Catherine Ilsley and Michaela Ilsley, great-grandsons Jonathan and William Dixson. Extended family members Renee Narkiewicz, Carol and Bobby Bainbridge, Paul, Deana and Tabitha Rea, Tina Eye, Raymond Kozlusky, Trisha and Ann Marie Reed, Gail and Lisa Reed, Kristie Ondisco and many other friends and family.
The family will accept visitors at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street Minersville, on Friday from 8:00 AM until services at 10:00 AM. Interment will be held in Mount Peace Cemetery, Branch Township. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers contributions to the Michael Ilsley Foundation c/o Port Carbon Little League, P.O. Frank E. Garger, 90, of Allentown passed away on Monday January 1, 2023 at St.Luke's Hospital Allentown.
Born July 25, 1932 in Allentown the son of the late Frank, and Rose (Krapf) Garger. Frank was also predeceased by; his beloved wife, Marie H. (Petracovich) Garger; sister, Nancy Kratzer.
A graduate of William Allen High School, Frank served honorably in the Marine Corp during the Korean War. Frank retired from Western Electric having worked in the maintenance department. An avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, and fishing. Frank looked forward to trips to the casino. He and his late wife liked to take cruises and travel.
Frank is survived by; sons, Kevin E. Garger of New Ringgold, Bruce S. Garger of Allentown; grandson, Marshall Garger and his wife Alicia; sister, Lillian Kromer.

He was born January 30, 1960, in Piscataway, NJ, a son of the late Wilbur and Florence McGrath Sears.
Bill was a graduate of Piscataway High School.
Prior to retiring he was employed by Summer Set Tires and was a realtor.
Throughout his life he enjoyed woodworking and fishing and was very close with his family.
He was preceded in death by his sister Phyllis Clark.
Surviving are his wife of 39 years Suzanne Grabowski Sears; his children Stephanie Getter, and her husband Ronald, Middleport; Billy Sears, Melanie Wiersma, Julia and Joseph Sears, all of Pottsville; 5 grandchildren, Chayse, Jace, Max, Vivian, & Vayda; nieces & nephews.
A Gathering of family and friends will be held from 10AM-12PM Wednesday at James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville. Leonie Norma DesRosiers, went to her heavenly home to join other family members preceding her on Monday, January 2, 2023, at Geisinger St. Lukes, Orwigsburg.
Born on September 28, 1939 in Manchester, Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late Aime and Yvonne Roy Latulippe.
Leonie was a graduate of Manchester High School, Manchester, Connecticut.
She was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven.
Leonie was a nurses aide in CT for several months and afterward, before children arrived, was involved several years with her husband in Mink Farming. She also had some other clerical jobs before starting at McDonalds in Pine Grove and retiring after 30 plus years. She also performed services for senior citizens.
She was active on a bowling league for a few years, loved going to the movies, gardening, outdoor work, sewing, reading, puzzles and dancing.
Preceding her in death were her husband Raymond A. DesRosiers, a brother Maurice Latulippe, and her in-laws, Alexander DesRosiers and Laurette Gadbois Marquis.
Surviving are two daughters, Laurette Hartman of Lakeland, FL, Violet (John) Berger of Cleona; three sons, Gerald (Carrie) DesRosiers of Sebring, FL, Wilfred (Donna) DesRosiers of Auburn, and Raymond DesRosiers of Reistville; 13 grandchildren, Ryan, Nicole, Jeanna, Brigette, Vincent, Christopher, Sarah, Logan, Liam, Lance, Justin, Betty and Renee; 14 plus great grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Latulippe, Norman (Linda) Latulippe; a sister Marianne (Robert Cyr.) Lessard; many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 9, 2023 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, 201 Randal St. Schuylkill Haven with Rev. Msgr. Edward S. Zemanik officiating. There will be a viewing on Monday, January 9, 2023 from 9:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. at the Church. Interment will follow in Schuylkill Memorial Park Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven.

Dale L. Koppenhaver, 79, of Tremont Rd., Pine Grove, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, in the Hershey Medical Center.
Born on November 21, 1943 in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Kenneth R. and June L. Strausser Koppenhaver.
Dale was a 1961 graduate of Pine Grove Area High School. He was a member of St. Peter's UCC, Pine Grove and was on church consistory.
He was a Clerk and Supervisor at Gold Mills, Pine Grove.
Dale loved spending time with his family, going out to eat, attending school sporting events, playing bingo, and watching the NY Jets and LA Dodgers.
Surviving are his wife of almost 60 years, Beverly Bettinger Koppenhaver; two daughters, Brenda and husband Jamie Hoffa of Wernersville, Becky and husband Scott Schneck of Pine Grove; two sons, Brad Koppenhaver and Brian Koppenhaver, both of Pine Grove; six grandchildren, Corbin, Aidan, Pierce and Isabella Brosious, AJ and Lauren Koppenhaver; a sister, Trudy and husband George Shiffer of Pine Grove; nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove, with Pastor David Fehr officiating. There will be a viewing on Thursday, January 12, 2023 from 9:30 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Schuylkill Memorial Park Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven.

Born on December 28, 1934 in Lyon Station, she was a daughter of the late Lloyd Sr. and Maude Grim Angstadt.
Peggy received her Bachelors Degree from Kutztown University and Masters Degree from Temple University.
She was a teacher at the Daniel Boone School District and Tulpehocken School District.
Peggy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville. She was an Ombudsman in Schuylkill County for the Dept. of Aging.
Preceding her in death were her husband Larry R. Hassler in 2020 and a brother Lloyd Angstadt Jr.
Surviving are a son, John and wife Tracey Hassler of Jim Thorpe; a granddaugher, Ilse and wife Colleen Hassler of Michigan; a grandson, Ehren Hassler of Jim Thorpe; and a brother Carroll and wife Brigette Angstadt of Philadelphia.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, 550 Fleetwood Rd., Bowers, Pa. with Rev. David Kistler officiating. There will be a viewing on Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the Church. Interment will follow in Hope Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery (Lyons Cemetery), Bowers.
