Jean C. Maksimik
With profound sadness we announce the passing of Jean, our loving and devoted wife, mother, and friend.Jean C. Maksimik, age 80, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Geisinger St. Luke's, Orwigsburg. She was born on January 23, 1943 in Shenandoah to Charles and Helen Litwaitis.
Jean is survived by her husband of 59 years, Daniel Maksimik; daughter, Sharon Gladski and her husband Tony, Shenandoah; son, Daniel Maksimik Jr. and his wife Crystal, Orwigsburg; grandsons Anthony Gladski, Los Angeles, CA; Ryan Gladski, Shenandoah; and Cole Maksimik, Orwigsburg.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah is in care of the arrangements.

Mae A. (Shollenberger) Kunkel, 82, of Orwigsburg, PA passed away at home, on her birthday, February 11, 2023. She was the wife of Richard A. Kunkel for nearly 60 years. Born in Hamburg, PA, she was a daughter of the late Arlan and Layla (Bailey) Shollenberger. Mae was a 1959 graduate of Hamburg High School. She later went on to work as a secretary for the Can Corporation in Blandon, PA for 24 years until her retirement. Mae was a member of Jacob’s Church in New Tripoli.
Survivors include her loving husband, Richard, and several nieces, nephews, and friends. Mae was the last of her siblings, having been predeceased by Gladys Arndt, and David, Donald, and LeRoy Shollenberger. There will be a private graveside service on Jacob’s Cemetery held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mae’s name may be sent to Jacob’s Church Memorial Fund at 8373 Kings Highway New Tripoli, PA 18066.

Roger was born on December 2, 1946 at the former Locust Mountain Hospital in Shenandoah, the youngest son of the late Howard and Sarah (Lindenmuth) Shoup. He was a 1966 graduate of the former Ringtown High School. Upon graduation, he joined his father and brother in the family timber business and farm
He was a active member of the Aurand Memorial United Methodist Church in Ringtown, serving as Chairman of the Administrative Board for many years. He had a 39 year perfect attendance in the church Sunday school. An avid bowler and hunter, he enjoyed working and being in the outdoors. Roger was well known for his chocolate cake with peanut butter icing, as well as his bees and honey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine (Rumbel) Shoup, with whom he would have celebrated 55 years of marriage in June. He is also survived by a brother Ralph of Catawissa, along with many nieces, nephews and close friends.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 15th at 11 AM at the Aurand Memorial United Methodist Church, West Main Street, Ringtown. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Tuesday evening, February 14th, from 6-9 PM at the Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, Inc., 412 West Main Street, Ringtown, and again on Wednesday morning from 9 AM until the time of the service at the church.
Roger will be laid to rest at St. Johns Cemetery in Ringtown following the service.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations are asked to be made to the United Methodist Church, 217 West Main Street, Ringtown.
