Dennis Mintz, 66, a resident of Pottsville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, February 6, 2023 at his home.Dennis was born in Pottsville on August 17, 1956, a son of the late Walter J. and Jean (Lipinski) Mintz. He was a graduate of the Schuylkill Haven high school, and was a life long heavy equipment operator, and owner of Walter J. Mintz, Inc., and recently working for LEW Site Construction.
Dennis was a member of the Landingville Fire Company, and a member of their pool team. An avid hunter and ice fisherman, he also belonged to the Second Mountain Gun Club. A jokester and true family man, he was also a horse show dad for his daughters while they were growing up.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Walter S. Mintz.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Brenda (Blankenhorn) Mintz, and their children, Kelly Mintz (fiancee Anthony Sedicino), Reading; Kaitlyn Mintz, Concord, MA; Kimberly Mintz (fiancee John Werbacher, Jr.) Pottsville; and Dakota Blankenhorn of Pottsville.
He is also survived by a granddaughter, Kaleena Werbacher, a niece, Heather wife of John Yonosh and a nephew Steven Mintz, along with cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to remember Dennis by attending a visitation on Friday evening, February 10th from 5-8 PM at the Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, 515 West Market Street, Pottsville.

Born on June 22, 1959 in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Stanley L. Sr. and Hazel Brobst Brown.
Stanley worked for Shelley Steinmetz Cleaning and Industrial Maintenance and was currently a cleaner at Penn Dye.
Stanley was an avid Philadelphia Eagles Fan. "Fly Eagles Fly"
Surviving are two sons, Travis Brown of Minersville and Justin Brown of Virginia Beach, VA; 5 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jason, Alivia, Ethan and Willow Brown; 5 sisters, Deborah Brillouet and Brenda Schaeffer, both of Galveston, TX, Wanda Krammes of Pottsville, Sharon Wetzel of Schuylkill Haven, Karen Felty of Tremont; 3 brothers, Paul Brown of Maryland, Jeffrey Brown of Pottsville and Bruce Brown of Port Carbon; nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services and interment will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Jacob's Lutheran Cemetery, 316 Suedberg Rd., Pine Grove with Kent Steinmetz officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., 139 S. Tulpehocken St., Pine Grove, Pa. 17963 in his memory.

Born on January 15, 1931, in Seltzer, Norwegian Township, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (nee Morris) Brensinger. She was educated in Minersville and Schuylkill Haven schools. Betty’s family was always her first blessing; and she enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel R.C. Church, Minersville, and a current member of Holy Family Parish, Minersville.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Clement “Cem” Botek, in 2013; three brothers, Robert, Charles and Albert Brensinger.
Betty is survived by three children, Debra Adams (spouse, Robert), Auburn, Donna Kiefer (spouse, Scott), Schuylkill Haven, and Clement Botek, Jr. (spouse, Renee), Deer Lake; five grandchildren, Lora Pucci (spouse, Arthur), Christine Benshoff (spouse, Jared), Scott Kiefer, Jr. (fiancée, Jess Hoptak), Kyle Botek (fiancée, Laura Dietrich) and Angela Botek (fiancé, Steven Dunn); five great-grandchildren, Dominic and Season Pucci, Tyler, Caitlyn and Michael Benshoff; her remaining brother, John “Jack” Brensinger (spouse, Dawn), Schuylkill Haven; nieces and nephews.
The family will accept visitors on Monday morning from 6:00 A.M. at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville. Visitation will end promptly at 10:15 A.M. when procession will form. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. in St. Michael the Archangel Church, 539 Sunbury Street, Minersville. Interment will be at Schuylkill Memorial Park, North Manheim Township. The family prefers contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Hedwig Rodgers, 90, of Centre St., Ashland, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2023, at Heritage Mills Personal Care Center, Tower City. Born in Binghamton, New York, August 14, 1932, she was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Majorus Pecka. She attended Binghamton area schools, and was the owner of Hedy’s Gift and Variety Store, and also a laundromat in Lebanon until her retirement. Hedwig was of the Christian faith. Preceding her in death was a husband, John A. Roemer, passing in 1990, a second husband, Paul Rodgers, passing in 2002, and a son, John M. Roemer, passing November 2016, and a daughter in law, Lisa Roemer, passing in May 2019.

As per Hedwig’s wishes, there will not be a funeral service. She will be laid to rest with her husband, John Roemer, at the Grand View Memorial Park, Annville.

Elizabeth A. Updegrove, 79, formerly of Minersville, passed away Monday, February 6th, at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.
Elizabeth was born in Pottsville, on February 22, 1943, a daughter of the late Matilda (Hutton) and Arthur McSurdy. She was the widow of Paul Updegrove. Elizabeth was a member of St. Matthew the Evangelist of the Holy Family Parish and formerly of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Minersville. Before her retirement she was employed as a Housekeeper.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sylvia Roush.
Elizabeth is survived by a sister, Mary Maley, three brothers, Walter McSurdy, David McSurdy, and Elmer McSurdy. Nieces; Christine Breesman, Marie Maley, and Linda Fletcher. Nephews; Shane and Michael McSurdy, and Scott Roush. She is also survived by great nieces and nephews At the request of the family all Services are private. Interment at Mount Peace Cemetery.
