WEST MAHANOY TOWNSHIP - The Pennsylvania State Police are looking for witnesses of Sunday's crash involving a tractor-trailer near Frackville on Interstate 81.
The crash occurred around 2:20pm, when a tractor trailer heading southbound near mile marker 124.2, just before the Frackville exit, veered into the median, into the Northbound lanes then went airborne at the bridges that cross Altamont Boulevard.
The tractor landed onto the Boulevard below with the trailer overturning.
The male 54-year-old driver and 31-year-old female passenger had to be extricating by emergency personnel.
Both victims were transported to St. Clair where they were flown with unknown injuries.
State Police say the truck was owned by Industrial Transport Services LLC.
A Ford pickup truck also sustained damage as it traveled south on Altamont Boulevard has the truck went airborne.
The driver of the pickup was not injured.
The Pennsylvania State Police continue to investigate the crash and are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call the Frackville Barracks at (570) 874-5300.
