The Schuylkill County Coroner's Office was called to the scene of a crash in Fountain Springs on Friday morning.
The crash just before 7:00am in the area of 620 Fountain Street/Route 61 and involved a Chevrolet Colorado and a Ford Sedan that struck head-on.
The drivers of both vehicles were heavily entrapped. The driver of the Colorado was extricated from the vehicle and transported to the helipad near the former Ashland Hospital and flown to an area hospital.
The Schuylkill County Coroner's Office was called to the scene for the driver of the sedan.
As of 8:45am, is closed from the Broad Street Intersection to the Malones Road Intersection. The roadway is expected to be closed for an extended period of time.
Butler Township Police and the Pennsylvania State Police were at the scene investigating the crash.
Also responding to the incident where Englewood Fire, Washington Rescue, Lavelle Fire, and Ashland Police. Fire police also assisted with traffic control.
UPDATE: As of 10:00am, Route 61/Fountain Street has reopened.
