Dan Evans, of Tamaqua, has announced his candidacy for Schuylkill County Commissioner.
Evans, a Republican, is a graduate of Tamaqua Area High School and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education from Mansfield University.
Evans spent 20 years in the rail industry working in New York and Philadelphia as a member of Consolidated Rail Corporation’s Metals Business Group. Evans was an account executive covering Mid-Atlantic mini mills and later served as senior business development analyst – Sheet Steel, serving the North American integrated steel market.
“I look forward to the primary challenge and believe my professional and municipal government experience qualifies me to serve Schuylkill County. I am a business professional and conservative Republican with a record of fiscal responsibility and community redevelopment. My message throughout the candidate process has been ‘Experience, leadership and vision to lead Schuylkill County,” Evans said.
Evans is currently part of Yeager Investments and Yeager Associates management team which owns and operates EL&M Auto Parts in Hammonton, New Jersey.
In addition to Evans’ private sector experience, his public sector experience includes serving Tamaqua Borough as councilman from 2011-18 and serving as chairman of Tamaqua’s Community Revitalization and Improvement Zone (CRIZ) Contracting Authority since 2018. Under Evans’s leadership, a record $1.1 million in CRIZ funding was returned to the authority in 2022 for continued community investment. To date, Evans and the CRIZ Authority has completed five CRIZ projects with $5.8 million in CRIZ/and private investment.
His other proud accomplishments include Tamaqua's $5 million Owl Creek Dam rehabilitation and the PPL street light acquisition and LED upgrade project. Evans also serves as secretary to the Tamaqua Planning Board, Tamaqua Fireman’s Relief Association and is a member of the American Hose Co. #1 and American Legion Post 173 – SAL.
