An early morning fire destroyed a vacant home in Shenandoah.
The call came in at 1:42am, when firefighters were dispatched to South Grant Street in Shenandoah for a report of a house fire.
As the first chief responded, he could see heavy smoke from two blocks away and called in a working fire. He arrived on scene to find heavy fire coming from the second floor of the single home at 4 South Grant Street.
Firefighters battled the fire for roughly an hour before bringing it under control.
According to Shenandoah Police, the home was vacant but still had power going to it.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
