On Saturday evening, the Mahanoy Area School District and the Mahanoy City Fire Department celebrated the accomplishments of Golden Bear athletes during District XI sporting events.
Over the last 2 weekends, the District XI Swim Meet, Wrestling Meet, and Basketball Championships took place.
The Golden Bears had many reasons to celebrate that included
- Boys Basketball Class AA Gold
- Swimming Girls 200 Medley - Silver
- Swimming Girls 100 Backstroke (Abby Dudash) - Silver
- Swimming Girls 100 Breaststroke (Tabbatha Ward) - Gold
- Swimming Boys 100 Breaststroke (Jake Hillibush) - Gold
- Swimming Girls Overall Team - 4th Place
- Wrestling 127 Weight Class - Ryan Fisher - Bronze
Apparatus led Mahanoy Area buses filled with their athletes holding their gold, silver, and bronze medals. The entire Mahanoy City Fire Department led the parade that also included apparatus from Delano and Ryan Township.
