A man was seriously injured after being struck by a train in Ashland on Friday morning.
The incident occurred around 11:00am as a 54-year-old, George Baucum, from Girardville, was walking along the tracks in the area behind the Dollar Store/Beer Distributor.
According to Ashland Police, Baucum was struck by something on the side of the train.
He was transported to a landing zone at Memorial Field, then transported by a Medivac helicopter with serious injuries.
Assisting on the call were Washington Ambulance, Shenandoah Ambulance, and the Washington Fire Company.
Ashland Police will be turning the investigation for the incident over to Reading and Northern Railroad Police.
