Helen "Marie" DeLay, beloved mother, gram, sister, aunt, 89 years of age of North Nescopec Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away, surrounded by family, on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at St. Luke's Miners Memorial in Coaldale, Pennsylvania.Born Friday, December 22, 1933 in Coaldale, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late John, and Margaret (Armon) Metrick. Marie was predeceased by; her husband of 56 years, Robert J. "Bip" DeLay on April 13, 2011; daughter, Karen M. (DeLay) Naylor on June 30, 2003; brother, John Metrick, Jr..
Surviving are; daughters, Dr. Beth A. DeLay of Stroudsburg; Maryanne "Mary" DeLay, with whom she resided; sister, Jean Angelo, wife of John R. "Dodo" of Tamaqua; grandchildren, Amy M., Kelly L., Erin E.; great grandchildren, Devon, Nicholas, Alex, Payton, Meghan, Jameson, Brynn, Steven, and Liam. Many nieces and nephews also survive Marie.
A 1951 graduate of Tamaqua High School, Marie worked as a Bell Telephone operator until becoming a full time mom, and doting gram. A member of St. John III R.C C. of Tamaqua, Marie supported her husband Bip as he served as Chief of the East End Fire Co., She was an avid Notre Dame Football fan, and enjoyed attending her children's and grandchildren's sporting events. Marie looked forward to long summer days spent along Beth's pool overlooking the Delaware Water Gap.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday March 29, 2023 at 10 am from St. John XXIII R.C.C. 307 Pine Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania 18252.
Interment will be in St. Jerome R.C.C., Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.

He was born on November 27, 1941 at the former Ashland Hospital, a son of the late Wilmer and Jean (Carl) Gilbert.
Carl was a graduate of the Tri Valley High School class of 1959.
Following high school, He served in the U.S. Army as a marksman, attaining the rank of SP-4. During his enlistment he was stationed at the Fort Clayton Canal Zone in Panama.
Carl was employed by the PA Board of Probation and Parole as a parole staff technician, retiring after 34 years in 2003.
He was preceded in death by mother Jean Gilbert and father Wilmer Gilbert.
Carl is survived by Lane Seiler, his long time partner.
He is also survived by brother, Lynn Gilbert and his wife Mary, sister, Ginger Fishel and husband William, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home on Friday March 31 at 11am, with Rev. Ray Holland, Pastor of St. Paul's UCC officiating.
A viewing will be held from 10am until the time of service at the funeral home.
Burial will be made in St. Matthew's "Colemans" Cemetery, Spring Glen.

Known by her friends and family as “Liz”, “Betty”, or “Nanny”, she was born in Pottsville, PA on March 21st, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Curran) Harley. Liz was a 1956 graduate of Nativity BVM High School. In November 1957, she married Wayne "Butch" and they started building their family which would blossom in size as the years passed. She and Butch found joy in supporting their children and grandchildren at their sports events, including her youngest daughter as she continued her sports career after college in running and triathlon events (even though she was always worried about her safety).
She was a staunch and proud supporter of Nativity BVM High School and the Castle Green Grotto in Greenbury. She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church of the Holy Family Parish, Minersville.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Wayne “Butch”, and her three siblings Joanne, Edward and Jack.
She is survived by seven children, Lynn Sabol (Dave), Minersville, Kathy Gillespie (Doyle), Jacksonville FL, Beth Ann Williams (Ray), Minersville, Wayne (Beth), St. Thomas, Edward “Eddie J” (Kimberly), Port Richie Fl, Patrick “PJ” (Maggie), Falls Church VA, and Mary Latza (Randy), Pennsburg; her Aunt, Katherine “Kitty” Leone; 14 grandchildren, Lindsey Phillips, Jaime Williams-Troutman, Michael Lynch, Stephanie Marcellus, Andrew Lynch, Emily Williams, Elizabeth Egan, Benjamin Lechleitner, Joshua Lechleitner, Connor Lechleitner, Mark Sabol, Sarah Lechleitner, Timothy Lechleitner and John Lechleitner; fifteen great-grandchildren, Jared, Hope, Loriann, Juliana, Lucas, Adam, Liam, Cece, Leah, Bo, Paige, Blake, Declan, Isla, and Maeve; very dear first cousins, Helen Ann Roberts, Margaret “Toot” Curran, Beatrice Hancock, and Mary Ann “Mame” Wynosky; sisters-in-law, Gloria Harley, Jamie Holton, June Nicholas, Jean Sloan, and Donna Lechleitner; and brother-in-law Gordon Sloan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, 10:00 am Saturday April 1 at St. Michael the Archangel Church of the Holy Family Parish, Minersville, with Rev. Stephen L Maco. celebrant.
All are respectfully invited to attend a visitation Friday with calling hours from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville.
