A fire has completely destroyed the Dollar General in the Gold Star Plaza in Shenandoah.
The fire broke out around 4:15pm, Monday, when Shenandoah fire crews were called to the store for a report of a fire in the rear of the store.
Crews arrived to find smoke showing.
After attempts to make an interior attack, the fire quickly spread and crews worked defensively.
An hour into the fire, heavy smoke engulfed and billowed from the store with crews from around the county responding to the scene to assist with manpower and with their tankers.
As of 6:15pm, crews were still on scene.
No word on cause as of this posting.
