Sylvia Ann Gittleman, 88, of Pottsville, passed away on Friday, April 7th, in Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest Hospital, Allentown.

Born in Fannettsburg, PA, on September 24, 1934, Sylvia was the daughter of the late David R. and Mary Ann (Hoover) Rosenberry.

Sylvia graduated from Fannettsburg High School and Lebanon Valley College where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music.

After graduation, she married David H. Gittleman to whom she was wedded for 61 years. Sylvia was the epitome of the modern-day woman; striking the balance between her career and dedication to her family. Sylvia was a special education teacher for the IU29 in Pottsville, piano teacher and co-founder of HawkMtn Metals and Labs with her husband Dave in 1985, which is now HawkMtn Labs, Inc owned by their son Jeffrey.

Sylvia was an avid and devoted fan of the arts; whether it was a trip to Philadelphia for a theater production or down the street to hear the orchestra perform at the Yuengling Mansion, she made certain it was a staple in her life and in those close to her. She embraced life; enjoyed being in the lime lite, loved dressing up for cocktails & dinner; treasured every moment spent with her son, grandchildren, her nutty Rosenberry family ( as she would refer to them ) and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David H. Gittleman, in August 2018; son, Scott Gittleman, in 1981; brothers: Edgar J., Carl L., and Dean D. Rosenberry; and sister, Grace Marie “Peggy” Miller.

Sylvia Ann is survived by son, Jeffrey L. Gittleman, companion of DeAnn Miller, of Sugarloaf, PA; grandchildren: Sarah Kate and Benjamin Scott Gittleman; daughter, Allison Gittleman-McNearney; sister, Lena (George) Radanovic, of Ft. Loudon, PA and brother, Robert (Norma), of Shippensburg, PA; brother-in-law, Richard Miller; sister-in-law, Anna Rosenberry; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, April 14th, at 11:00 a.m. at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc., 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville. A visitation with the family will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.

Interment will follow in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.

The family request contributions in Sylvia Ann's memory be sent to The Schuylkill County Center of the Arts, 1440 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, PA 17901.

Sarah Ruth Hedrick Bonner, 98, passed away Monday, April 10, 2023, at the Schuylkill Center in Pottsville, PA, surrounded by her family. She was born on August 5, 1924 to the late Homer and Grace Simmons Hedrick, Red Creek, WV.

Surviving are two daughters, Glenda and Michael Bright of Orwigsburg, PA and Donna and Frank Eye of Harman, WV; five grandchildren Deborah (Stan) Bolinsky, Michelle (T.J.) Newbauer, Travis (Michelle) Eye , Dana (David) Varner, Jason (Lena) Eye; twelve great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren, one sister Margaret Kaucher and one sister-in-law Ruth M. Bonner as well as several nieces and nephews.

Also preceding her in death, a daughter Deborah Mae, granddaughter Judith Ann Bright, brother Warren Hedrick, and two sisters Avilda Boggs and Dorothy Lemanek.

She graduated from Davis High School with the class of 1943. She retired in 1989 from CNA Insurance Company of Reading, PA, after 32 years. She was of protestant faith. She enjoyed traveling, crocheting, reading, working crossword puzzles, going to reunions and spending time with the family.

A Memorial service will be held at the Flanagan Hill United Methodist Church in Red Creek, WV. on Saturday, April 29th at 11 AM with Rev. Jonathan Hedrick officiating with interment immediately following in the Flanagan Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Flanagan Hill United Methodist Church or the Flanagan Hill Community Building in Red Creek, WV 26289.

Robert Earl Ehret, Jr.
, 76, New Ringgold, passed away in his home on April 8, 2023. He was the son of the late Virginia (Sigley) and Robert Earl Ehret, Sr.

He is survived by his wife of almost 30 years, Deborah (Comisac) Ehret and his children, including Robert III; Michael and companion Jennifer Ohl; Jennifer, wife of Shane Strohl; Jesse; Melissa, wife of Brian Shaffer; and Leah. He had 13 grandchildren: Michael Jr. and his wife Hannah, Nicholas, Bradley, Brent, Evan, Wyatt, and Conor Ehret; Chad Strohl and his wife Adreanna, Alaina Strohl, Casey and Jake Shaffer, Courtney Bonetsky, and Elizabeth Mustacchio; and three great-grandchildren, Vance and Noah Ehret and Marlee Shaffer. He is also survived by sister, Bev Ehret; brother, William Ehret and his wife Katherine; and many nieces and nephews. His loyal and protective dog Lacey spent the last 15 years by his side and left this world just a few hours before Bob did. He was also predeceased by an infant brother, Alan.

Bob was no stranger to hard work and there wasn’t much he couldn’t fix or do. His career path included driving truck and, in following in his father’s footsteps, cutting boulders to a usable size for masons and builders. He spent countless hours, even at a very young age, digging stone from the Blue Mountain and local sand quarries. He enjoyed working alongside his father and taught his own children their shared honest work ethic. In fact, some of his children’s most cherished memories are the days they worked with and learned from him.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Russian Orthodox Church in Coaldale, PA.

Roel Alexandria Chesonis, 54 of Shenandoah Heights passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023 at the Shenandoah Senior Living Community.

Born on August 1, 1968 in the Lower Bucks County Hospital, Bristol, she is a daughter of Joan J. (Krushinsky) Chesonis of Shenandoah Heights with whom she resided and the late James A. Chesonis.

She was a graduate of the Schuylkill Intermediate Unit #29, MarLin.

Roel was employed for over twenty-three years at the former United Cerebral Palsy (UCP), Pottsville now Avenues.

She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah formerly Saint Casimir Church.

Roel loved participating in the Special Olympics and also enjoyed bowling. Above all else, she cherished the time spent with her family.

Surviving in addition to her mother are two brothers, Kurt Chesonis of Ringtown and Dennis Chesonis with Nicole of Shenandoah Heights; one sister, Daria Kayes and her husband David of Shenandoah Heights; one niece, Abigail Kayes of Shenandoah Heights; two nephews, Christopher Chesonis in Florida and Jason Chesonis and his wife Lori Lee in Texas; one great-niece; one great-nephew; one uncle, aunts, cousins and many friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday morning, April 14, 2023 at 10:00 am in Divine Mercy Church, 232 West Cherry Street, Shenandoah with Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor as the celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Casimir’s Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. A viewing will be held on Friday morning from 8:00 am until 9:30 am at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 South Jardin Street, Shenandoah.

Holly Laudeman
, 51, a resident of Palo Alto, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 8, 2023.

Holly was born in Ashland on September 16, 1972.

She was a 1989 graduate of the North Schuylkill High School, and was currently employed by Tuke's in Auburn.

A supporter of "Save the Strays' , Holly loved all animals, especially cats.

Holly is survived by her 'mom and pap', Carol and Red Lazer of Zion Grove, along with her four children, Emily Taylor, Kehey Taylor, Bobby Taylor and Joshua Taylor. A sister, Crystal Rabenold, a step brother, Shawn Lazer, a step sister, Shelly Knepper, and her special aunt and uncle, Ann and Kim Kehley also survived along with nieces and nephews.

At this time, no public services are planned, and any contributions to help Holly's family defray the cost of services will be accepted by the Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, 412 West Main Street, Ringtown, PA 17967.

John Allen Lush, Sr., 81, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, in his Port Clinton residence surrounded by his loving family.

He is the husband of Loretta M. (Stine) Lush. They married on November 25, 1961.

He was employed by Fleetwood Tannery for 35 years.

John really enjoyed the great outdoors; he loved fishing, boating, camping, and going to the demolition derbies. He especially was fond of the family trips to North East, MD. He also was incredibly talented and passionate in making homemade crafts out of cardboard; he occasionally would give the treasures as gifts to family members and friends to cherish.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, John, Jr., husband of Deborah Lush; four grandchildren: Tasia Lush, Heidi, wife of Kip Bowers, Miranda Huber, and Jash Lush; and five great-grandchildren: Dustin Reed, Jr., Kyle Yeagley, Jr., Morgan Warnick, Justin Reed, and Malorie-Ann Yeagley.

He was predeceased by his son, Jeffery Lush.

You will be greatly missed by your family and friends. Nothing will ever be the same. You are greatly missed already more than words can describe.
