Ellen Lopez, 82, of Auburn, passed away Friday, April 28th, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Schuylkill, E. Norwegian St., Pottsville.

Born in Elizabeth, NJ on January 16, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Irene Berry.

Ellen was the widow of James Lopez to whom she was married 50 years.

She was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven.

Ellen was employed as a transporter at the former Good Sam Hospital, Pottsville.

She is survived by two daughters, Lorraine, wife of James Lindsay Lopez, of Chaddsford; Suzanne Lopez, of Charlotte, NC; two sons, James, husband of Linda Lopez, Jr., of Minersville; John Lopez, of Chaddsford; 3 grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a brother, Francis Berry.

A Catholic Funeral Service will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, May 3rd at Ebling-Stabingas Funeral Home, Cressona with Rev. Msgr. Edward S. Zemanik officiating. A viewing will be held at the church from 9:30 until the time of services.

Interment will be private at the convenience of the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Nancy J. Brahler-Newton
, 61, of Pottsville, passed away on Wednesday at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Schuylkill – East shortly after arrival.

Born on February 26, 1962, in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late Joseph J. Brahler, Jr. and the late Elizabeth (nee Walker) Brahler. She studied horticulture at the South Campus of the Schuylkill Technology Center while attending Nativity B.V.M. High School. After graduating in 1980, she continued her studies at Rittner’s School of Floral Design and Business, Boston. She provided floral services to Schuylkill County from Nancy’s Fancy Flowers and Fruit, Saint Clair until retiring in 2017.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Pottsville. She had also served on the former Horticultural Education Advisory Council at Schuylkill Technology Center. She was a life member and treasurer of Blue Ridge Rifles, Inc., Summit Station.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 27 years, Gerard J. Newton; twin daughters, Victoria Newton and Elizabeth Newton; five siblings, Joseph Brahler III, Pottsville, Frances Mickey, Minersville, Mary Beth Brahler, Pottsville, Diane Keese, Pottsville, and Kristine Yeastedt (spouse, Frederick), Snead’s Ferry, North Carolina; nieces and nephews.

The family will accept visitors at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville, on Sunday from 6:00 P.M. and on Monday from 6:00 A.M. Visitation will end promptly at 9:15 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. John the Baptist Church, 913 Mahantongo Street, Pottsville. Interment will be in St. John the Baptist #2 Cemetery, Pottsville. The family prefers donations to Mountain Shadow Veterinary Hospital, 64 Kiehner Road, Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972.

William Nicholas Hill, 63, a resident of Sheppton, passed away late Thursday evening at the Hazleton Campus of the Lehigh Valley Medical Center.

William was born in Hazleton on October 18, 1959, son of Shirley (Juris) Hill and the late William M. Hill.

He was a graduate of the Hazleton high school, and was retired, having last worked for the Trintiy Lutheran Church in Hazleton, doing maintenance. In his free time, William enjoyed watching all types of sports.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Diane Stewart of Sheppton, and by three nephews, Nicholas Nastafee, Jacob Nastafee and Cameron Stewart. Two great nieces, Locklyn and Waverly also survive.

Private services for William are being provided by the Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home in Ringtown.
