Yuengling Light Lager Jogger 5k Draws Thousands to Pottsville

The population of Pottsville grew by the thousands on Saturday morning for the Yuengling Light Lager Jogger 5k.

A typical Saturday morning in downtown Pottsville is quiet, but athletes and their families filled the city.

The annual event drew over 3,100 runners to compete in the 5K that benefits Team Red, White, and Blue, a nonprofit organization that is a partner of Yuengling's that benefits the health and wellness community for veterans.

Jennifer Yuengling welcomed runners at the start/finish line and helped start the countdown to start the race.

As runners continued the route, Pottsville residents handed out cups of Yuengling beer to help them continue on.

Last year's winner, Kyle Price, of New Jersey, was first to return and cross the finish line with a time of 17 minutes and 39 seconds.

After all of the entrants completed the course, everyone returned to the brewery for a free beer and for the award ceremony.

The first through third place men and women's finishers all received trophies adorned with the Yuengling Bald Eagle as well a pair of New Balance sneakers.

A costume contest was also held for best costumes for best single, best couple, and best group.

John Dunn from T102 was emcee of the race and the awards ceremony.
