On Friday evening, the Ashland Area Softball held their opening day parade and ceremony to kick off for their 2023 season.
The parade began at 23rd and Walnut Streets in the borough and followed Walnut Street 15th Street, then to Willow Park.
Maryann Nahodil, President of the Ashland Girls Softball League, welcomed everyone to the opening ceremony and introduced the league's 13 teams.
Nahodil also recognized the family of Suzy Fetterolf.
Suzy had passed in December of 2022 and was instrumental in the creation of the league many years ago.
Nahodil presented Suzy's family with a plaque and her son Paul, threw the first pitch of the season.
Lauren Bennyhoff sang the National Anthem.
The league's T-ball teams held their first game immediately after the ceremony.
