Firefighters from Schuylkill and Northumberland Counties responded to a row home fire in Ashland on Tuesday afternoon.
At 2:45pm, Monday, emergency personnel were called to the 1500 Block of Centre Street for a report of a house fire with possible entrapment.
Firefighters arrived on scene within minutes and found heavy smoke coming from the homes of 1512 and 1514 and received word there was a fire in the kitchen. As firefighters made entry, heavy smoke billowed from the front of the two homes. The fire was also upgraded to a 2nd alarm due to the fire buildings being in the middle of a set of row homes.
A quick attack kept the fire from spreading to the homes at 1510 and 1516.
No word on a cause of this posting.
Units from Ashland, Girardville, Mount Carmel, Atlas, Kulpmont, Shenandoah, Mahanoy City, and Englewood responded to the scene along with a rehab unit from Danville.
We will have more information on the fire when it becomes available.
