A man and woman from Frackville are facing multiple charges after a gun discharged in their motel room in Wildwood Crest, New Jersey.
According to the Wildwood Crest Police Department, on Thursday, May 18th, 2023, the police department responded to a motel in Wildwood Crest for a report of a gunshot victim.
When police arrived, they found Alexander Wiederhold, of Frackville, with a gunshot wound to the leg.
Assistance was provided by medical personnel, and he was transported to the Atlantic City Medical Center for his injuries.
Police learned through an investigation that Wiederhold discharged the handgun, which he was carrying in his waistband, while carrying bags into a motel room.
The handgun was registered to Sabrina Weed, also of Frackville, who also along for the trip. The handgun also contained a high-capacity magazine and hollow point ammunition.
At the time of the discharge, Wiederhold was walking next to a 6-year-old child.
Neither Sweed nor Wiederhold possessed a concealed carry permit.
Wiederhold was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a high-capacity magazine, and possession of hollow point bullets. He was placed on a warrant in accordance with Bail Reform procedures and later locked up in the Cape May County Correctional Facility after being released from the hospital.
Sweed was charged with possession of a high-capacity magazine, and possession of hollow point bullets. She was released on a summons in accordance with bail reform procedures.
