A Pottsville woman is facing child endangerment charges after her child ingested drugs.

According to Pottsville Police, on March 30, 2023, City Police received a Childline report concerning a 1-year-old child being brought to the Lehigh Valley Hospital in Cedar Crest after being exposed to Amphetamines.

The Pottsville Bureau of Police along with Schuylkill County Children and Youth Services began an investigation into this allegation.

The child’s mother, Jillian Ostrousky, 31, of Pottsville, was interviewed and admitted that she had ingested methamphetamines just prior to interacting with her child who then became severely ill which prompted the child be transported to St Luke’s Hospital for medical treatment.

Upon being evaluated at St. Luke’s, the child was immediately transported to Lehigh Valley-Cedar Crest due to his condition where he eventually improved and was stabilized.

The Pottsville Bureau of Police charged Jillian Ostrousky with one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

She was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Reiley on May 8, 2023, where her bail was set at $50,000 unsecured as she was cooperative throughout this investigation.

Ostrousky, as part of her bail requirement will be required to report weekly to Schuylkill Adult Probation for routine drug screenings.

Schuylkill County Children and Youth Services has made arrangements to have family care for the child who has since been released from the hospital.
