On Sunday morning, the inaugural "Fighting 400" 5K was held in Gordon.
Over 100 runners took part in the event hosted by the Gordon Fire Company.
The morning kicked off at 10:00am with a fun run/walk and was followed by the 5K at 11:00am.
Participants of the 5K left the fire company following Otto Street, left onto McKnight Street, right onto Hobart Street, left onto Biddle Street, right onto Mountain Road, right onto Wyncoop Avenue, to Charles Avenue, left onto McKnight, left on Biddle Street, right onto Kennedy Street, right onto Elm Street, and left onto Plane Street to return to the fire company.
The first male to finish and overall winner of the event was 24-year-old Colin Ahrensfield of Ashland with a time of 21:09.
The first female to finish and second place overall was 12-year-old Genevieve Dando of Gordon.
Ahrensfield and Dando received special medals for their achievements. The top 3 winners in age category also received medals.
After the race was completed and medals were handed out, the annual community day was held next to the fire company with food provided by food trucks and live music by Hank Ahrensfield.
The proceeds of the event go directly back to the fire company.
