Elizabeth Chelak, 86, of Park Place, PA, passed away Thursday, May 4th, at the residence of her daughter Jacci in Frackville.
Elizabeth was born in Tuscarora, on October 6, 1936, a daughter of the late Katherine (Yarnell) and Albert Zukas.
She graduated from Tamaqua High School.
She was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church Mahanoy City.
Bette worked for and retired from the former City Shirt, Mahanoy City.
Bette had belonged to the Golden Age of Mahanoy City, 150 Club of Park Place. She also enjoyed reading books and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Bette was wife of the late Joseph Chelak.
Elizabeth is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline, wife of John Lord, of Frackville. a son, Joseph, husband of Lizzy Chelak, of New Boston; nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by 2 Grandchildren Ean Chelak and Lindsay Lord.
Bette is preceded in death by a brother Leonard and a grandson Joel Chelak.
Office of Christian Burial and Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Mahanoy City at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, May 10th, with Rev. James Carroll officiating.
Friends and family may call Wednesday from 9 to 10:30 AM at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church.
Interment will follow at Skyview Memorial Park Tamaqua, PA.
Family prefers donations to the Hillside SPCA, St. Mary’s Byzantine Church, or The Lehigh Valley Hospice.
