They always say it's a great day to be a duck when it's raining, well Sunday's weather was perfect then for the Annual Avenues Rubber Duck Race.
Now in it's 35th years, the annual fundraiser by Avenues, allows people to purchase rubber ducks that are released at precisely 3:32pm, that then race down Mill Creek next to the Coal Creek Commerce Center. Each duck is numbered corresponding to the person that purchased the duck.
The first 27 ducks to arrive all earn prizes. The last duck to arrive also receives a prize as well.
Sunday's weather brought over an inch of rain to Schuylkill County.
According to Kim Noel, Marketing and Special Events Manager, Sunday's weather certainly kept people away, she said thanks to fundraising efforts by everyone selling ducks and their sponsors, the event raised more money than have in the past several years.
Noel said, over 5,000 ducks were sold.
As always, the Schuylkill Haven Dive Team assisted with recovering and cleaning up ducks that got stuck along the way down Mill Creek.
