Fire officials are investigating three simultaneous fires that occurred overnight in Girardville.
At 2:38am, Thursday, emergency personnel were called to the area of Vine Street and B Street in Girardville for a report of a garage fire.
Girardville Fire Chief Frank Zangari was first to arrive on scene and found a fully involved garage fire on Beech Alley.
As emergency personnel responded, a garbage can was found on fire approximately a block away at 123 B Street, and minutes after that, a call was received at Schuylkill 911 for a brush fire on the walking path near Girardville borough hall.
Girardville's Girard Hose and Ranger's Hose Companies handled all 3 fires.
The garbage can fire and brush fire were minor and were handled within minutes.
The garage fire destroyed two garages and a shed, as well as two vehicles inside the garages.
Chief Zangari said the fires appeared intentionally set after accelerants were found at the brush fire.
State Police Fire Marshal Joseph Hall responded to the scene early Thursday to investigate along with Chief Zangari.
Investigators are asking anyone that may have seen anything suspicious, or may have security cameras in the area of B Street that would have a recording from 1:30am to 3:00am to contact Chief Zangari by calling (570) 276-6922 or Trooper Hall by calling (570) 874-5300.
