The Mahanoy City Police Department arrested a man late Sunday for allegedly abducting and raping a 12-year-old from the Wilkes Barre area.
According to court documents, Vincent Colon, 33, of Mahanoy City has been charged with rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault, indecent exposure, corruption of minors, and Statutory Sexual Assault.
The incident began Sunday, June 11, 2023, around 10:15pm, when Mahanoy City Police Officers Rachael Lenar and Officer Weicikosky were called to McGuire's Pub for a 12-year-old juvenile that reported that she had been abducted and rape.
The officers arrived to find the juvenile only wearing leggings and a bra, with no shirt or shoes.
The girl told officers that she was taken from her home in Bear Creek Township, near Wilkes Barre and forced into a vehicle by two men, one of the men being identified as Colon . The men allegedly took the girl to their home at 107 West South Street, in Mahanoy City where she was raped. She told officers, that after being tied up for trying to escape, she was able to free herself and escape the home and run to McGuire's Pub for help.
While the girl was being treated by EMS, assisting police officers Leo Luciani and Cpl Pagan noticed two males walking by acting suspicious. Upon initiating a mere encounter with the two men, who turned out to be Colon and the other man involved, they told police that they were looking for a female and described the juvenile.
The juvenile positively identified the two men, and they were detained by police.
Upon speaking with officers, the men admitted to speaking with the juvenile and said she got into their car on her own before bringing her back to Mahanoy City.
They admitted to the officers that they had oral sex with the juvenile in their home.
Colon was taken into custody on the above charges and arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison on $250,000 straight cash bail.
