Caroline worked as a seamstress in the local garment industry in the Easton area before eventually relocating to Pottsville. She was known for her crafting and enjoyed sewing, ceramics, and decorating her home for various holidays. Caroline had a talent for cooking and took pleasure in preparing delicious soups.
She was an active member of the River Church in Pottsville, finding solace and community in her place of worship.
In addition to her husband, Sherel "Butch" Burks, who passed away in 2013, Caroline was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Marion (Breene) Compton, and several brothers and sisters.
Caroline deeply cherished her family and leaves behind a legacy of love. She is survived by her three children: Jody Ann Becker, wife of Bryan of Pottsville; Jeffery Ciulla and his wife Michelle of Pottsville; and Thomas Ciulla and his wife Justine, of Easton. Caroline was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews, who will miss her dearly.
Caroline's family will be holding a memorial service to honor Caroline's life, and details will be announced in the near future.
Caroline V. Burks will be remembered for her kindness, creativity, and the love she shared with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed and forever treasured in the hearts of those who knew her.
The Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home of Pottsville is honored to serve Caroline's family during their time of need.

Earl W Shadle, age 95, of Sacramento, passed away Friday, June 23, 2023, at the Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born on Wednesday, November 23, 1927, in Barry Twp, a son of the late Raymond E Shadle and the late Verdie (Lucas) Shadle.
Earl served in the US Army during World War Il.
He was a coal miner in several area coal mines prior to his retirement.
His wife, Freda M (Morgan) Shadle, passed away in 2022. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and by five brothers, Kenneth Shadle, Harvey Shadle, Leonard Shadle, Marvin Shadle, and Edward Shadle.
He is survived by two sons, Dennis E Shadle of Hegins and Randy W Shadle of Valley View; three daughters, Cynthia L Clark of Hegins, Carla R Umberger of Minersville, and Dorie L Rodriguez of Mount Joy; nine grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Maurer of South Carolina and Doris Smith of Ashland; and several nieces and nephews.
Private services with military honors will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Inc., Valley View, is in charge of arrangements.
