Born in Pottsville on November 26, 1947, she was a daughter of the late John and Florence (nee Yakaitis) Hallick. She was a graduate of St. Clair High School and worked for the former State Manufacturing, New Philadelphia. Thereafter, she was a homemaker devoting all of her time to caring for her family.
She was a member of the former St. Stephen R.C. Church, Port Carbon. She enjoyed Bingo with her friend, Faye, casino trips with her sisters, watching the Phillies games, arts & crafts which she loved to gift, dining out, shopping, and spending time with her daughters and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William, in 2013; six siblings, John Hallick, Bernard Hallick, Anthony Hallick, Richard Hallick, Edward Hallick and Joan Mochnoc; a nephew, Johnny Mochnoc.
Ruth is survived by two daughters, Arlene Dutcavich, and her husband, David, Minersville, and Barbara Swift and her husband, John Swift IV, Chatham, New Jersey; five grandchildren, James Dailey and his wife, Ashley, Erica Dailey, Meghan Swift, John Swift V and Katherine Swift; two great granddaughters, Lyla Dailey and Ryleigh Dailey. She is also survived by three siblings, Michael “Mickey” Hallick, Port Carbon, Florence “Cookie” Correll and her husband, Gary, Laureldale, and Christine “Tina” Ellex and her husband, Ronald, Port Carbon; nieces and nephews; her beloved cat, Snuggles.
The family will accept visitors at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville, on Saturday evening from 6:00 P.M. and on Sunday from Noon. Visitation will end promptly at 1:15 P.M. when procession will form. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 P.M. in St. Stephen Chapel, 218 Valley Street, Port Carbon. Interment will be at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, East Norwegian Township.

Born in Gilberton on September 26, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Alberta (Yockachonis) Zarcufsky of Turkey Run.
She attended the former Shenandoah Catholic High School and was a retired garment worker, having worked in the local garment industry.
Earlier in life, she was a member of the ILGWU Ladies’ Bowling League at the former Holiday Lanes, Turkey Run. She proudly supported Turkey Run Defender Firehouse to honor her late fathers service as fire chief.
Charlotte was a mother who was always there for her family, showing her love through cooking and baking, hosting family dinners and picnics to bring everyone together. She enjoyed roller skating, ice skating, sledding, bowling, fishing, swimming at Tuscarora and Locust Lake, Sandy Beach, and Stauffers.
She was a grandmother who hosted slumber parties and treated her grandchildren to special homemade meals, and always remembered a birthday, and a great grandmother who taught us our ABC’s and always had cakes and pies as an after-school treat.
She was famous for her dry bottom shoe-fly pies donated to all church bazaars and fire company fundraisers and a dependable pierogi maker at St. Michaels.
Charlotte was a religious person who had a deep faith in Jesus and love for the Blessed Mother. She was a devoted member of the Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah, and the former St. George Church.
Preceding her in death were her husband John Litwak; brother, Joseph Zarcufsky; sisters, Joanne “Peachie” Aponick and Anna Jankaitis; and her beloved daughter, Diane Donovan.
Surviving are her daughters Charlotte (Dave) Kriner, Rose (Nathan) Holburn, and Darlene “Dee Dee” (Bradley) Miller; her favorite sister, Lenore “Nikki” Zarcufsky; grandchildren, April and Melissa Donovan, Charlene (Gilberto Charriez) Kalenkoski, Bernadine (James) Donaldson, Kenneth (Cara) Seacrist and Victoria (Brian) Rohrig; great-grandchildren Sierra and Damian Hester, Katherine Marie Charriez, Ender and Anduin Seacrist; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 3, 2023 at 10:00 am, in St. Casimir Church, 229 North Jardin Street, Shenandoah with Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor as the celebrant. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Dawn Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. A viewing will be held on Monday morning from 8:00 am until 9:30 am at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 South Jardin Street, Shenandoah.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Charlotte’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or at stjude.org.

He was born on Sunday, June 2, 1940, in Hegins Twp, a son of the late Johnson F Smith and the late Maude I (Savidge) Smith.
Leroy was a 1958 graduate of Tri-Valley High School.
He was a machinist at Peiffer Machine Services, Mount Aetna, prior to his retirement.
Leroy was a member of Christ United Church of Christ, Fountain and also attended the Evangelical Methodist Church, Lavelle.
He was a member of the Myerstown Rod and Gun Club and the NRA.
Leroy enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, gardening, tinkering with machines, tending to his therapy cats, and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; by two brothers, Eugene Smith and Emanuel Smith, and a sister, Sadie Schaeffer.
He is survived by his wife Doris E (Shadle) Smith, to whom he was married for 64 years.
He is also survived by five daughters, Brenda Scheuren and her husband Robert of Ashland, Sharon Kimmel and her husband Richard of Ashland, Debra Smith of Hegins, Charlotte Green and her husband Carl of Ashland, and Suzanne Zerbe and her husband Chris of Valley View; a son, David Smith of Riverdale, UT; twelve grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; a brother, William Smith and his wife Florence of Pottstown; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Evangelical Methodist Church, Lavelle, on Monday, July 3, 2023, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Joshua Mowery officiating.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday at the church.
Burial will be in Yarnell Cemetery, Barry Township.

He was born September 9, 1947 in Pottsville, a son of the late Charles and Rosemary O'Brian Phillips.
He was a 1965 graduate of Pottsville Area High School and Central Technical Institute, Kanas City, Missouri,
John was a Navy veteran having served during the Vietnam War.
Prior to retiring he worked for General Public Utilities and Wal-Mart Distribution Center.
John was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville, Stag Archer Club and was a Little League Baseball Coach.
Throughout his life John loved cheering for Notre Dame and visiting the campus and also loved his sports memorabilia.
He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Mary Stump and an aunt, Helen Derfler.
Surviving are his wife Grace Lord Samay; 2 sons, Matthew Samay and his wife Amy, and Kevin Samay; 3 grandchildren, Emersyn, Tyler and Riley Samay; 2 cousins who were like brothers to him John and Thomas Derfler; nieces and nephews.
Service of Remembrance will be held Wednesday July 5th at 10:30AM from James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville, with Deacon John E. Quirk officiating. Family and friends are invited to visitation from 9AM until the time of services. The family would like to prefer remembrances in the form of contributions in memory of John be made to St. Judes Hosptial, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Interment with military honors will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
