Crawford Promoted by San Franscisco Giants to High-A Team in Oregon

Reggie Crawford, a native of Frackville, and North Schuylkill grad, was promoted within the San Franscisco Giant Minor League teams on Thursday.

Just about a year after being selected in the first round of the MLB Draft by the San Francisco Giants, Crawford, who has been impressing at the minor league level, received a promotion from the San Jose Giants (Low A) to the Eugene Emeralds.

The Eugene Emeralds is a Minor League Baseball team, based in Eugene, Oregon.

Last summer, Crawford was chosen as the 30th overall pick and is currently being developed as a two-way player, playing as a left-handed pitcher and a first baseman.

Having undergone Tommy John surgery on his left throwing elbow in October 2021, Crawford participated in six games as a hitter in rookie ball. He later made his debut this season with the San Jose Giants in late May. In his time with the minor-league Giants, Crawford made seven starts, accumulating 11 innings pitched and recording a 4.09 ERA. He struck out 18 batters while issuing four walks.

In addition to his pitching prowess, Crawford also showcased his batting abilities, accumulating 18 plate appearances. He achieved a batting average of .250, with an on-base percentage of .278 and a slugging percentage of .563. Crawford hit one home run and drove in five runs.

Crawford is a 2018 graduate of North Schuylkill.

The structure of the San Franscisco Giants Minor League teams are:
  • San Jose Giants (Low A)
  • Eugene Emeralds (High A)
