The Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce proudly inaugurated the grand opening of "The Chopping Block," a unique and exciting new entertainment venue in Pottsville.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place at 370 S Centre Street, on Thursday, marking the official opening of the establishment that promises fun, community, and unforgettable memories.
The Chopping Block aims to create a safe and enjoyable space for the local community.

Co-Owned by Samantha Chivinski, she expressed her passion for keeping the community together, emphasizing that The Chopping Block was conceived as a response to the lack of recreational activities in the area.
"We wanted to bring a place that is safe and fun and provides a sense of community that we always have here. There's not a lot to do around here, and it's something that a lot of people told us that they were going to leave the area," Chivinski shared.
The venue features axe-throwing booths, a full bar with a 12-tap system, and projectors to create dynamic and interactive targets. With such diverse offerings, visitors can expect a multitude of fun experiences, laughter, and the opportunity to create cherished memories. While The Chopping Block doesn't serve food, patrons are encouraged to bring their own from local eateries, further supporting the community.
Robert Carl Jr, President, and CEO of the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce praised the initiative, stating, "It's great new entertainment, socialization! They've worked very, very hard from the beginning when they won the Launch Pottsville contest. But first acts rolling, not only in the county, but anywhere in our region, and it's really, really exciting because it's going to provide entertainment, unlike any other before it, and it's going to provide socialization and opportunity for young adults."
The Chopping Block was one of two businesses that was awarded funding through the Pottsville Business Association's "Launch Pottsville" entrepreneur competition.
The project was a significant undertaking, as the owners vividly recall the immense effort it took to transform the space. "It felt like yesterday we were emptying garbage and trash in over 20, 40-yard dumpsters just to clear this place out, and start making it happen," Chivinski reflected.
The grand opening ceremony featured notable speakers, including the Mayor Dave Clews of Pottsville and other members of the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce, who celebrated the new venue and its positive impact on the community.
