Jim was married to the former Deb Miller for forty-seven years. Their son, James “Jimmy” gave him the greatest joy of his life, his grandchildren Hayden and Kinsley Murray who were everything to Jim.
He was the son of the late Joseph and Helen (Flynn) Murray and the brother of the late Monica, Michael, and Patrick Murray.
In addition to his wife, son and grandchildren, Jim leaves a large number of siblings to mourn him: Joseph (Johanna), Rhode Island; Margaret “Peg” Frankenstein (Thomas), Reinerton; Timothy, Muir; Maryanne Minnich, Tower City; Therese Garrett, Florida; John, Tower City; Matthew (Joan), New Jersey; Christopher, California; and Francis (Lisa), Williamstown. Many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Braxtyn and Lylah Burger, whom he adored and thought of as grandchildren, along with two caring sisters-in-law, Dolores Miller and Julia Evans and a brother-in-law, Tom Miller. Numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a 1974 graduate of Williams Valley High School. Jim owned and operated Murray Masonry for many years, his craftsmanship as a mason may be seen throughout the Valley, from the Crucifix at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, to the memorial bench for his late nephew Jonathan at the Tower City Pool, to the Veterans Memorial in the school square.
He was an active member of the Porter Tower Lions Club since 1995. In 2020 Jim received the highest award with the Lions Club, the Melvin Jones Fellow. Jim was everything from Charities President for over 20 years to handyman, he knew how to fix everything. Involved with every Lions event, Team Lead on bingo, master baked potato and BBQ chicken maker. His presence in the building was evident because there was a ladder out and the Phillies on TV.
He was of the Catholic Faith. He was also a member of the Tower City Loyal Order of Moose, Knights of Columbus, Orwin Gun Club and the Masonic Lodge. He was an avid fan of Phillies baseball and Notre Dame football teams.
Jim will be remembered for being a man of few words, who let his actions speak for him. To those who loved him, he will be remembered as a man who was always willing to help, to listen, and to forgive.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at 11:00 am from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Tower City. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Williamstown. Viewing will be from 10-11 at the chapel. A luncheon and time of fellowship will follow at the Lions Club building in Tower City.
In lieu of flowers donations should be made to the Porter Tower Lions Club, 517 W. Grand Avenue, Tower City PA 17980.

Born in Dannville, PA on July 9, 2001, he was the son of Larry W. and Susan M. (Burns) Snyder of Schuylkill Haven.
Chase attended Nativity B.V.M. High School and loved working on cars.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by aunts: Christine Burns, and Tonya Wallace; uncles: Christopher Burns and Shawn Snyder and his wife Nancy; and cousins: Cody, Dustin, Jacob and Zoe Wallace and Dana and Cali Snyder.
A Religious Service will be held at the Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home in Port Carbon at 7PM on Thursday, July 6th, with Deacon John Setlock officiating.
Relatives and Friends are invited to visit with the family on Thursday evening from 5-7PM at the Funeral Home.
Interment will be held privately.
