Twila was the loving wife of Aaron M. Reber, who passed away in 1995. They had been married for 54 years and were among the first people to join the new Phoebe Berks Community in the early 1990’s. Twila has been a resident for 30 years.
Twila's early life was spent in Schuylkill County. Being raised on a farm, she had a natural gift for nurturing. Her home and plants were meticulously tended - - her blueberry patch was renowned. In later years, she resided in Hamburg with her husband. She worked as a supervisor for Hamburg Knitting Mill and was a long-time member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ Summer Hill, in Auburn.
Twila strove to live every day to the fullest. She was a very active person and walked for exercise nearly every day. During covid, she inspired her fellow hallmates to remain active and started a social-distancing exercise class. She was generous with her time and talents and was often preparing meals for others, running errands for neighbors, or assisting with events at Phoebe Village. She loved to crochet and made many blankets and scarves for family, friends and those in need. Her efficient approach to life, tempered with genuine compassion, was to be admired.
Twila was the third of six children, and was preceded in death by all of her siblings: Elmer Seigfried, Evelyn (Seigfried) Fenstermacher, George Seigfried, Jean (Seigfried) Reber, and James Seigfried. She is survived by many nieces and nephews who hold fond memories of spending time at Twila's place, as well as her numerous friends in the Phoebe Community.
Interment will be at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Phoebe Berks, Wernersville, PA, on Saturday July 22, 2023 at 10:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Phoebe Berks.
