He was raised in the Catholic faith at the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Essex, MD, and later attended St. John's Lutheran Church in Brandonville, as well as several other churches in the local area throughout his lifetime.
John was a talented, self-employed HVAC technician and dabbled in home remodeling contracting. He was a true Jack of all trades and an avid reader who loved to learn. John was an outdoorsman and enjoyed activities such as hunting, fishing, and crabbing. Additionally, he had a passion for creative cuisine and appreciated good food. A skilled storyteller, he would captivate friends and family with his tales.
John is survived by his mother, Donna of Brandonville; his daughter, Sara O'Donnell, wife of Steven O'Donnell, of Girardville, Pennsylvania; and a granddaughter, Isla O'Donnell. He is also survived by his aunt, Wendy Wake, wife of Nicky Wake, of Joppa, Maryland: aunt, Dorothy Greeley, wife of Bill Greeley, of Whiteford, Maryland; and numerous cousins. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, a Brittany named Ginger.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, August 4, 2023, from 10 AM to 11 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Brandonville. A Memorial Service will then be held at 11 AM, followed by burial in Brandonville Union Cemetery.

Doris M. Phelan, 69, of Ashland passed away Saturday evening July 29th at her home.
Born June 25, 1954 in Shamokin, she was the daughter of the late Nancy (Weikel) and Frederick C. Runge.
She graduated from North Schuylkill High School in 1974.
Doris was of the Lutheran faith and attended Christ United Lutheran Church, Gordon.
She was the husband of Michael J. Phelan. They were married in 1987.
Doris last worked as a CNA at Friendly Nursing Home in Pitman. She also worked as a custodian for North Schuylkill Elementary School.
Doris was a devoted Nana to her 2 grandchildren Brayden and Zadyn.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by; son Jason Palewicz in 2005; brother in law Christopher Phelan; brother in law Steven Phelan; brother in law William Phelan; sister in law Lorah Sleek.
Surviving are; husband Michael J. Phelan, Ashland; Joshua Phelan, Big Mine Run; 2 grandsons Brayden Boyer & Zadyn Phelan, Ashland; sister Lola Sherlan, Ringtown; sister Bonnie Sisco (Dan), Lavelle; sister Eva Lucas (Mike), Mowry; brother Fred Runge, Mowry; nieces and nephews.
Services and interment will be private at the family’s request.

Lydia M. Rowan, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, 92 years of age of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at St. Luke's Miners Memorial in Coaldale, Pennsylvania.
Born Tuesday, June 9, 1931 in Rush Township, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late Horse, and Helen M. (Clouser) Williams. Lydia was also predeceased by; husband of 56 years, James J. Rowan; son, Timothy J. Rowan; sister, Jean Fisher; son-in-law Dennis Faust.
Surviving are daughter, Val Faust and her companion Tom Applegate; brother, Russell Williams and his wife Eleanore; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren.
A member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tamaqua, Lydia was a Tamaqua High School graduate. A homemaker, Lydia enjoyed the companionship of her cat Tiger, playing Bingo, and the lottery. Spending time with her family was Lydia's greatest love.

Born Sunday, December 7, 1930 in Ashland, the son of the late William, and Susan (Willing) Evans. George was also predeceased by; brother William Evans; son-in-law, Joseph DeSarro.
Surviving are; his wife of 69 years whom he adored, Joan (Dally) Evans; son, George R. Evans, Jr. and his partner Joanna Brandt of Scranton; daughter, Chandelle DeSarro of Scranton, grandchildren, Chad Evans and his wife Caitlin, Brittany Wasilewski wife of Joseph, Joseph DeSarro, Justin DeSarro; great grandchildren, Ethan, Elliot, Joseph, Kinslee, Paislee. Many nieces and nephews also survive George.
A graduate of the former Coaldale High School, George served honorably in the United States Marines during the Korean War. Retiring from R.C.A. of Dunmore, George was a longtime member of the Coaldale American Legion having served as Judge Advocate. He was an ardent Philadelphia sports fan, and had coached his grandchildren in Little League. George relished time spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be at 11 o'clock A.M. on Thursday August 3, 2023 from the funeral home. Friends may call on the morning of from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. and on Wednesday afternoon August 2, 2023 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
Interment with Military Honors bestowed will be in Sky View Memorial Park, Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.
The family would like to send their deepest gratitude to the Oak Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility for all of their gracious help and compassion during George's stay.

Trudy Ann Barry Bullard, 74, of Kernersville, NC, passed away of natural causes in her sleep, the eternal rest she deserved, on Monday, April 17, 2023, at her home.
She was born and raised in Donaldson, PA to Arthur and Irene Barry as the eldest of eight children.
Truly dedicated her entire life to finding employment for those in need, and never missed an opportunity to volunteer in her spare time, especially promoting horticulture projects as a lifelong master gardener.
She is survived by her loving husband, Don, and only son, Tim, as well as numerous friends and family. Her generosity and outreach to others will be greatly missed, eternally.
A graveside service will be held Saturday August 5, 2023 at 11:00 AM from the Donaldson Community Cemetery.
