RUSH TOWNSHIP - State Police release results of a DUI checkpoint in Schuylkill County on Saturday.
According to State Police Sgt. Kelly Konsavage of the Frackville Barracks, Troopers conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Saturday, July 22nd, 2023, on Route 54/Mahanoy Avenue in Rush Township from 10:00pm until 2:00am, Sunday.
As a result of the checkpoints, a total of 200 vehicles were contacted, with 1 driver being arrested for DUI, 2 arrested for Act 64 violations, and several traffic citations were issued.
The Sobriety Checkpoint was part of an effort by the Frackville Barracks to increase DUI Patrols over the month of July.
The goal of a sobriety checkpoint is to reduce the number of alcohol and drug related fatal crashes, and to reduce the number of DUI drivers on Pennsylvania highways.
