UPDATE: Speed to Blame for Barry Township Crash



The Pennsylvania State Police have released an update to Tuesday's crash in Barry Township that left a vehicle split in two.

According to Troopers from the Schuylkill Haven Barracks, the crash occurred on Tuesday around 12:15pm at the intersection of Deep Creek Road and Sunbury Road (Route 901).

Police say at the time of the crash, Bryce Schwalm, 21, of Hegins was attempting to make a left turn from Deep Creek Road onto Route 901 from the stop sign driving a Ford Focus.

At the same time, Thomas Graydus Jr., 37, of Ashland, was traveling southbound on Route 901 at a high rate of speed in a Ford Mustang.

Graydus struck rear half of the Ford Focus ripping off the entire back half of the vehicle.

The front half of the Focus came to a rest in the middle of the roadway while the Mustang and the back half of the Focus came to a rest on the east shoulder.

Graydus, Schwalm, and Schwalms's 11-year-old passenger were all taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
