The Pennsylvania State at Frackville have released details on Monday's fatal crash on Route 924 in East Union Township.
According to Troopers, the crash occurred around 1:41pm on Main Boulevard about a half mile south of the intersection with Mountain Road.
Police say Jose Robles, 59, of Hazleton was driving south on Route 924 in his Mitsubishi Eclipse while Gerald Benauer, 69, of Mount Carmel was driving north in a Ford F-150XLT.
For unknown reasons, Robles lost control of his vehicle and began to spin into the northbound lane and into the path of Benauer.
The front of Benauer's truck struck the passenger side of Robles vehicle.
Robles was pronounced dead at the scene by members of the Schuylkill County Deputy Coroner's office.
Benauer was transported by Mahanoy City EMS with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
A medical helicopter was originally requested but denied due to weather conditions.
