Firefighters responded to a "smoke in a structure" call at Pottsville Area's John S. Clarke Elementary School on Wednesday morning.
The call came in just after 9:15am, when firefighters were dispatched to the school for a report of smoke in a classroom, specifically Room 215.
Students were all evacuated safely as emergency personnel arrived on scene.
Early reports were firefighters found an issue with an air unit on the roof of the upper level of the school, which was shut off, and the school was ventilated.
By 9:40am, students from the lower level of the school were allowed to return to the building.
UPDATE 10:10am - All firefighters were cleared of the scene.
